Aug. 7 Barbecue
This Sunday, August 7th, the Home Services Committee will be hosting the church birthday barbeque and collecting presents for the Aids Project.
For the Barbeque: Home Services will provide hot dogs, burgers, tofu pups and veggie burgers, buns, condiments and beverages. We would like to invite the congregation to bring their favorite side dish (such as green salad, pasta salad, baked beans, veggies with dip, fruit…). Desserts and chips are also welcome. No sign-ups, just a true potluck.
For the Aids Project: Please bring gifts wrapped and labeled for these children living in families with AIDS:
2 boys, 4 years old
1 boy, 8 years old
1 boy, 10 years old
1 girl, 13 years old
Our plan is to picnic on the lawn between the shed and play structure. Bring a blanket and spread out on the lawn or enjoy the shade of the tents. If the weather is not cooperating, we’ll be inside. See you there!!

Pastor Lise Sparrow will be on sabbatical from June 9, 2011 to August 31, 2011. As a part of her contract with the church, we agreed that she would have sabbatical leave after five years of service. She began as our part-time, then interim pastor in 2000, and was called to be our settled pastor in the fall of 2001. Accordingly, she is now taking her second sabbatical. Lise expects to become a grandmother during this break!
During Lise's sabbatical, pastoral duties will be covered by the lay leadership and by Rev. Judith Kinley. Margie Serkin will continue her wonderfully efficient office work, and the lay leaders, deacons, service coordinators and committees will continue in their roles.
If you have needs or concertns that require pastoral attention, please call the pastor's phone (802-257-2776). Every day while Lise is away, one of the lay leaders will check for confidential messages and will respond to each message.
