If you are
reading this we assume you are grieving the loss of a loved one. Please accept
our condolences and prayers for you at this time and in the weeks and years
ahead. We offer this information as a way of helping you make your way through
the many decisions surrounding the funeral service and reception. Please
feel free to consult with the pastor and discuss any concerns you may have as
she will be your connection with the church throughout the planning and
carrying out of your wishes.
It is assumed
that families who request the service of the minister and the facilities of the
Guilford Community Church desire that the funeral ceremony will be a Christian
one. The Christian funeral calls upon God, through the Holy Spirit, to bring
the family together, celebrate the gifts of the loved one and bless the passage
of the deceased into God’s arms . As a rule, it is the minister of the Guilford
Community Church who performs funerals; the participation or leadership of
other ministers needs to be discussed with the GCC pastor.
